Welcome to the Bet Shemesh Educational Center

The Bet Shemesh Educational Center (BSEC) is an exceptional boarding school for at-risk boys between the ages of 12 and 19.

The majority of our students’ parents did not graduate high school. When combined with the very low economic standing of their families, our students experience pressure at home to join the work force as soon as possible. Many of their parents have their own emotional or psychological challenges which prevent them from providing their children with the support and encouragement that they need to succeed at school. In many cases, untreated learning disabilities are also obstacles to their academic success.

Our goal: By providing personal attention and encouragement, with a tailored academic program for each student, we strive to give them the best chance to pass the Israeli high school matriculation tests, continue on to post- high school religious studies and meaningful Israeli army or other national service, and then higher education.
.
Our fully equipped educational campus, with newly furnished classrooms, modern computer facilities, a science and technology center and comfortable dormitories, allows us to serve up to 300 children every year, including immigrants from Ethiopia and students from some of the most destitute areas in the country. BSEC was awarded the prestigious National Educational Prize from the Minister of Education in 1995, and again in 2004.
